Lead Product Designer - Multi squad role

We're looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our growing team.

On the frontier of design

We're moving through uncharted territory with brand new design challenges around chat, UI, brand, ToV and applied machine learning that you can't just look up the answer to. We're a small but growing design team with an excellent bunch of engineers who are building faster than we can design. And of course, we are solving money problems that make a very real and tangible difference to our users.

NB: We are unable to sponsor visas for this role, unfortunately. You should be based in the UK (or open to relocation), ideally close to London so you can visit the office on a regular basis. We offer hybrid working - for staff in London we encourage you to come to the office one to two times per week but this is flexible.


What youโ€™ll be doing

This role will be working across squads to enhance team capacity and performance. You are an enabler who loves variety in their role and is comfortable adapting and shifting priorities. 

  • Hands-on design work across all areas of Cleo's product and internal teams including design operations
  • Solving both user and business problems balancing the trade-offs and relating these back to the wider squad, pillar and company mission
  • Creating clarity and alignment within a squad on proposed solutions through journeys, wireframes and prototypes
  • Informing your designs with both qualitative and data-driven insights on user needs and pain points
  • Executing prototypes in polished UI in close collaboration with developers
  • Creating a great product, UI and chat experience with Content Designers 
  • Planning and prioritising sprint work with Product Managers as equal partners 
  • Designing and owning the financial relationship that a user has with Cleo for example, engaging with budgeting and insights that help them manage their money to product-specific flows 
  • Looking across all Cleo products for opportunities to deepen the financial relationship with our users


About you

  • At Lead level, you should ideally have 5+ years of experience working in start-up/scale-ups
  • You have a portfolio demonstrating previous experience of delivering and shipping high quality consumer app design 
  • You have experience and familiarity with design systems, design DNA and brand experience
  • You have experience working in cross-functional product squads partnering closely with engineering, data, content and PMs
  • Youโ€™ll be excited by doing a variety of work and comfortable with creating clarity from ambiguity by switching directions and priorities to get to the best outcome 
  • Youโ€™re impact-driven and excited that an idea you have on a Monday could be live and seeing results by the Friday
  • You love experimentation, analysis and working with data to drive and inform design decisions
  • You'll be driven by finding new & improved ways to help our users meet their goals. Being pragmatic and methodical, you also understand how to break down your work into the most important parts to test and validate
