Job Description
Location: Remote, East Coast
As our Design Manager, youโll manage a small, talented design team split between North America and Europe, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and collaboration. Youโll be responsible for design strategy and ops, advocating for design's strong strategic presence and highlighting the impact of the work the team do. You will also partner with marketing to ensure brand consistency between product and marketing. Youโll report into the VP of Product in this role, managing a lean team of 5 split between North America and Europe.
What will you be doing?
- People management: Leading, mentor, and managing our lovely design team, promoting a positive, balanced, inclusive and people-centric work environment
- Strategy: Guiding the direction of projects, aligning design initiatives with our business objectives, and ensuring a cohesive and impactful cross-platform UX
- Ops: Streamlining design workflows, collaborating closely with Product, and overseeing project timelines to enhance efficiency and productivity in design processes.
- Design organisational maturity: Elevating design as a discipline and a strategic driver across the company.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in managing teams: youโll be able to support our team with confidence and ease, advocate for them, and push and enable them to do their best possible work
- Proficiency in design software (ideally Figma) so as to support the design team; this is not an IC role, but you should be able to unblock your team and support their initiatives
- Proven ability to use data in informing design decisions and confidence coaching the wider team in best practices on this topic
- Excellent organisational skills, with an emphasis on efficiency and effective cross-discipline collaboration; you'll also be able to prioritise effectively and contribute to resource planning
- Decisiveness, with confidence in proposing opinions based on insights and experience
- The ability to quickly establish and build relationships across the wider team, and persuade and influence where needed
- Capable of managing overcommunication in a remote setting, favouring action over excessive meetings
- Fun! Itโs essential that you believe that work/life balance is key to an innovative design culture, where time to explore, experiment and be playful (as well as time to take guilt-free, no questions asked vacation) are as important as velocity
- Genuine interest in combating climate change with us!
How will we support you?
- Work remotely and work well - we'll provide the tools you need to do your best (including a Macbook Pro), and can provide access to co-working spaces
- Access to conferences, meet-ups and training through our L&D allowance
- A structured career progression framework and advancement opportunities
- Great benefits - including health insurance, 401(k) or pension, paid parental leave
- Annual team gatherings - in previous years the whole company has spent a week together in London, Bath and Manchester in the UK
If you donโt have all of the requirements, but youโre really interested in what weโre doing, please apply anyway and we can consider your application now and in future! We value applicants regardless of their background or years of experience. We'll also do our best to accommodate reasonable adjustments to the interview process if needed.
