Product Designer II

Job Description

Resilia is looking to hire a Product Designer II to build user centric products nonprofits and funders love to use to meet their capacity building goals. This product designer will work within the Knowledge pod, helping our nonprofits connect with content that is most relevant to their role to move their professional development forward. The role will report directly to our Product Design Manager, Alecia Lewis.

Our Product and Pods
Resiliaโ€™s product is a two-sided platform with one side for nonprofit end users and another for funders (e.g, large Foundation grantmakers, corporate funders, and government offices) who are purchasing access to the platform on behalf of themselves and 15-50+ nonprofit grantees. Think of it a bit like Uber with one side for the driver and one side for the passenger, except in our case, the funder is paying for access to the services while the nonprofit gets access for free.

Our Research and Development (R&D) team works in three cross functional pods made-up of a product manager, product designer, engineering manager, and a handful of software engineers. The Knowledge pod has worked on recent projects like developing a guided in-app onboarding, improving search in Resiliaโ€™s Academy and Community, and an in-app needs assessment to help direct users to the most relevant resources.

What to Expect:

  • First Week: You will receive a 30-60-90 day onboarding plan, get set up with all the technologies that support your work in a remote environment, and start to meet other Resilians. You'll review our long-term vision and familiarize yourself with how we're planning to grow over three horizons of GTM and product changes in the next few years.
  • First Month: You will establish relationships with the Design team, onboard onto your podโ€™s area of ownership, and contribute to current work on the pod. You will familiarize yourself with our voice of the customer (VOC) initiative research and current user experience challenges we're working to improve (e.g., working to better serve mid-stage nonprofits as well as we serve early stage grassroots nonprofits). You will begin to make meaningful contributions to your pod's ability to complete quarterly objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • First Six Months: You will help cross-functional teams understand new product designs by presenting at All Hands, recording video walkthroughs for Slack product announcements, etc. You will increase our user satisfaction scores by 40% in product usability and decrease time to value for our users through iterative and design led UX changes.
  • First Year: You will ship a major feature that our nonprofits love. You will contribute to overall platform adoption by nonprofits and funders, a critical aspect of boosting our renewal and expansion ARR numbers to succeed as a business.

About You:

  • You have 2-6 years experience working in growth capacities in a development pod
  • You'll standout if you have experience with content management systems (CMS), learning management systems (LMS), or have worked for an EdTech company
  • You are comfortable running continuous discovery programs across a design organization to consistently collect and act on feedback from users
  • You feel strongly about the impact and importance of design in creating features and products users love and love to use
  • You're comfortable operating in situations of ambiguity with a bias for action
  • You have a low-ego attitude that helps you adapt to day-to-day changes while staying focused on long-term vision
  • You believe that there is huge long-term potential in working for a mission-oriented venture-backed SaaS startup seeking to transform the sector from funder-driven to nonprofit first
  • Youโ€™re committed to living the operating principles that guide how we work: Be Lionhearted, Put Nonprofits First, Move the Needle, Elevate Equity, and Create Gathering Places
