Job Description
Weโre looking for a Product Design Intern to join our Product Design team for a 10 week paid internship from June 3rd to August 9th. You will be led by a Product Design manager, partnered with a mentor from your team at Olo, and experience being part of a smart, passionate team dedicated to delivering products using modern tools and technologies.
The Product Design Intern will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Olo's products by deeply engaging in the design process. This includes conducting thorough research to understand user needs and market trends, brainstorming innovative ideas to address these needs, and actively participating in the development of design solutions using Oloโs design system. The intern will also be involved in testing prototypes and iterating on designs based on user feedback, ensuring the final products are both user-friendly and aligned with Olo's design standards. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to various stages of product design, from conceptualization to final implementation, within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
In addition to day-to-day team-based work, you will participate in a capstone project alongside interns from other functions, including Product Management and Software Engineering. The capstone project involves devising, designing, and implementing a new set of features for Olo's platform as a team, guided by mentors from across the organization. Past Olo capstones have introduced features which were later incorporated into the platform and released to customers, so it's a great way to make a lasting impact and develop your skill set!
Internship Program structure:
- Weeks 1-8, you will work primarily on your Olo team completing critical project work alongside Olo Engineers and Product Managers. Mondays will be spent working with your fellow interns and Capstone Mentors designing a Capstone Project.
- Weeks 9 + 10 are dedicated exclusively to the Capstone.
You can work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. or at Olo's headquarters in NYC.
What You'll Do
- Conduct user research to gather insights and understand user needs and behaviors.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and ideation workshops to generate innovative design solutions.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using industry-standard design tools.
- Collaborate with the design team to maintain and evolve Olo's design systems, ensuring consistency and coherence across products.
- Test design concepts with users, gather feedback and iterate on designs to improve usability and user experience.
- Present design ideas and prototypes to stakeholders and team members, clearly articulating design rationale and decision-making processes.
- Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously bring fresh perspectives to the team.
What We'll Expect From You
- Foundational skills in product design, including understanding of UX/UI principles.
- Proficiency in Figma for creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs, with the ability to learn and adapt to other design and prototyping tools as needed.
- Ability to conduct and analyze user research, turning insights into impactful design decisions.
- Creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of aesthetics.
- Clear communication and presentation skills to effectively share design ideas and decisions.
- Team-oriented approach, willing to give and receive feedback to refine designs and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Pursuing a degree in a design-related field is preferred.

The compensation for this position is $25/hr for the duration of the internship program, which will run from June 3rd to August 9th.
